Winning Combination of Great Agents, Company

Buy or Sell with a Winning Combination

a great agent doesn’t exist in a vacuum

by Meg Minehan

This year I am happily celebrating my 25th year with Roohan Realty. I was actually hired by John Roohan, Tom Roohan’s dad. John hasn’t been with us for many years and we remember him so fondly, but I like to think he would be exceptionally proud of the company Tom has fostered and developed.

winning combinationLately we’ve been witnessing lots of Brokers and Agents moving around from company to company. The old “the grass is always greener…” adage certainly seems to apply to our industry as well. These folks evidently feel that their clientele works with them and them solely based on their performance.

I truly believe that a great real estate agent and client relationship is a long standing romance that survives many stages and events. I can’t tell you how many folks I have worked with on multiple transactions over time, eventually even helping their kids and their kids’ friends. It’s a testament to my love for my profession, but it goes way beyond my ability to successfully navigate a transaction; it extends to the company I work with and their commitment to excellence.

One client actually wrote to our Broker/Owner, Tom, saying, “We love Meg Minehan, but we now love the Roohan truck and boxes so much we would never go elsewhere!”

I do know they were only half serious, but it really brings to the forefront the importance of being backed by stellar Broker and office in making any transaction work.

When you’re looking to buy or sell a home, your agent is the face of the transaction, but there are so many other variables. If you’re selling, ask yourself:

  • Does my agent have access to a dedicated in-house marketing department, including an in-house photographer, graphic designer and digital marketing expert? If not, how quickly will they be able to outsource this work, and what measures are taken to ensure quality?
  • Is their office open and staffed 7 days a week, so any incoming calls on the property can quickly be turned into showing appointments? (We all know how frustrating it can feel to get an answering machine at an office during business hours!)
  • Is the Broker/Owner of the company involved locally and contributing back into the community that provides him or her with business?

All of these things can be answered with an emphatic yes at Roohan Realty.

And if you’re buying, ask:

  • Is the office conveniently located with a parking lot so you can meet with your agent without fearing the two hour limits imposed on the city streets?
  • If you’re in the middle of a transaction and your agent is unavailable, are there ready, willing and able hands at the office able to help with anything?
  • Does the company have a long standing local relationship with stellar service providers willing to go that extra mile for a Roohan client?

We have so much of this to offer our clients.

I guess I feel pretty strongly that a great agent doesn’t exist in a vacuum and really has to have a great company backing them up. If you’re working with an agent from Roohan Realty, you can be assured that is the case on all counts.
