WHAT: Saratoga Recycles Day

WHEN: Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 9AM to 12 Noon

WHERE: SPAC Parking Lot, west side of Route 50 | map

WHO: Sponsored by Sustainable Saratoga

IMPORTANT:

  • $5 entry fee per vehicle (fees may vary with trucks or larger vehicles, please call to check).
  • Cash or check only. Please bring exact change to limit physical contact with event volunteers.
  • Masks required.
  • $20 additional fee for TVs & monitors (max 4 allowed per vehicle).
  • Also collecting: clothing, shoes, outerwear, sleeping bags, blankets, towels, art supplies, eyeglasses, hearing aids, cellphones, bicycles, electronics, appliances, metal objects & more. See below!

ITEMS COLLECTED:

  • Clothing & Shoes for B.E.S.T.: men’s work clothing, including jeans, hoodies, rain jackets, jackets, boots, work shoes, work gloves, heavy socks for backstretch workers.
  • Backpacks, Sleeping Bags & Gently Used Tents for Shelters of Saratoga
  • Clothing & Household Textiles for American Clothing Company (any condition): clothes, coats, shoes, belts, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, backpacks, sheets, quilts, comforters, towels, rags, etc. NO pillows, carpeting, or rugs with rubber backing.
  • Art Supplies for Transitional Services Association: Clean and useable materials only! New or gently used canvases, artists’ paint brushes, painting tools, large frames (11×14 and larger), framing tools, easels, mats & mat boards (any size), art paper (drawing, painting, sketch pads – any size). Also collecting useable pastels and oil paints.
  • Eyeglasses & Hearing Aids for the Saratoga Lions Club: sunglasses, eyeglasses, hearing aids in any condition. NO cases please.
  • Cell Phones & Chargers for Wellspring
  • Bicycles for Bikeatoga
  • Electronics & Appliances for Recycling: Refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, dishwashers, toasters, blenders, coffee machines, hot plates, cable or satellite receivers, audio/visual equipment, phones, computers & accessories, printers, VCRs, DVD players, video game systems, wiring & cables, etc. NO smoke detectors or thermostats.
  • Televisions & Monitors: We WILL be accepting TVs and monitors again this year, for an additional fee of $20 each, and a limit of 4 per vehicle.
  • Metal Objects for Recycling: basketball hoops, grills, unusable bikes, metal lawn care equipment, etc. for scrap metal recycling
  • Batteries: NEW! We will be accepting batteries, including alkaline, at this event for recycling

NOT ACCEPTING:

  • Pillows
  • Carpeting
  • Rugs with rubber backing
  • Thermostats
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Toxic/hazardous materials

OTHER WAYS TO RESPONSIBLY DISPOSE OF MATERIALS

  • Hazardous waste: For residents of the City of Saratoga Springs only, the City typically holds a Household Hazardous Waste Day every two years. You can call 518-587-3550, ext. 2623 for more information about these events.
  • Tires: The Saratoga County Soil & Water Conservation District typically holds a tire recycling event every year. These events are open to Saratoga County residents and registration in advance is required.
