10 Tips for winter proofing your home
- Check and service heating system *especially oil fired systems
- Insulate any plumbing pipes vulnerable to cold or freezing
- Clean gutters and down spouts
- Disconnect outside water hoses
- Inspect and clean chimney and fireplaces
- Examine exterior for leans and pest entrances
- Look over to make sure there are no drafts in the home
- Change batteries in thermostats
- Check roof for obvious issues
- Make sure winter equipment is ready to go
