108 Circular Street
Saratoga Springs, NY

108 Circular Street was built in 1858 for James Savage, who was part owner of the Congress Hall. An Early Italianate style, the magnificent porches with Corinthian columns give the Greek Revival flair that is so popular in the neighborhood.
In 1915, the Isbell family owned the property.
In 1922, “Ro-Ed Mansion” (the name a combination of Rose and Edward Goldberg) operated as a rooming house. It had been reported that Al Jolson and Sophie Tucker were among the famous guests. An advertisement from a Canadian publication in 1925 lists the home’s location as being in the “Karlsbad of America.”

During the 1950s, it operated as the Hilwin Hotel until 1961. During the 1970s, it was home to the Saratoga Arts Workshop.
In 1980, the property was purchased by John Hettinger, who restored it to its original grandeur.
A newspaper photo (below) shows Roohan Realty’s founder, John T. Roohan, looking over the plans.

Today, the fabulous property has a total of 18 rooms, 6 bedrooms, 5 ½ baths, 2 fireplaces, and a fully screened in porch overlooking the gardens. 108 Circular Street is currently for sale, listed for $1,150,000. View listing
