2019 marks Roohan Realty’s 50th year in business! We would like to take you back to 1969 and share what was happening in the news – locally and nationally. We’ve been having a great time reading old newspapers and hope you enjoy seeing the historic Roohan Realty connections as much as we do. 1. Former Commissioner of Public Safety, John T. Roohan
Eugene Cole named acting sergeant pending the results of a civil service exam. Cole was appointed patrolman in 1965 by the former Commissioner of Public Safety John T. Roohan.
2. Gloversville Savings Bank Ceremony
Groundbreaking ceremony for the Gloversville Savings Bank on South Broadway.
3. Skidmore Co-Ed Terms
Skidmore OK’s 2 Co-Ed terms, an exchange with Colgate University
4. The Vatican Announcement
The Vatican announces the Most Rev. Msgr. Edwin R. Broderick was named by Pope Paul VI to be Bishop of Albany.
5. New Commanding Officer
The Saratoga Air Force Base will have a new commanding officer, Major Shelton Black.
6. Construction on Saratoga Hospital
Construction continues at Saratoga Hospital which will add 208 rooms to the hospital’s current 110 rooms. Officials hope the addition will be ready for occupancy by January or February 1970.
7. Stewed Prunes
Whose idea was it to serve those poor children stewed prunes on Thursday?? (photo) Maybe that is why the books were written “I Survived Catholic School”
8. Now Showing: Romeo and Juliet
The Community Theater is showing Romeo and Juliet.
