Week of January 3, 1969
The first baby of 1969 is born at Saratoga Hospital at 4:40AM on January 1: Roy Lansing Johnson Jr. from Victory Mills. The Saratogian listed two pages of gifts the family received from local businesses, including Cudney’s Cleaners and Menges & Curtis Pharmacy.
The Community Theater is playing Dr. Dolittle (in color!), starring Rex Harrison, Samantha Eggar & Anthony Newley.
Lyndon B. Johnson is President of the United States.
The Saratoga Springs YMCA picks the Convention Hall site on Broadway for its new facility:
Newspaper advertising is huge: Major grocery stores are Safeway – West Hill Plaza, Central Market on Railroad Place, and the Grand Union on Broadway.
Bacon costs .59/lb, bread costs .19/loaf, and milk costs .59/gallon.
