2019 marks Roohan Realty’s 50th year in business! We would like to take you back to 1969 and share what was happening in the news – locally and nationally. We’ve been having a great time reading old newspapers and hope you enjoy seeing the historic Roohan Realty connections as much as we do. Community involvement and public service have been ingrained in our business from the very beginning – a commitment that continues today. Check back every Thursday for a fresh flashback to 1969!


1. 590 North Broadway Restored

Mrs. Needles restores 590 North Broadway, the former offices of Dr. Rockwell and Dr. Hunt into three furnished apartments.

Action Promised for Second Fire House –this prompted the building of the West Avenue Fire House. Chief Joseph Tighe cited the need to serve the outlying districts is great, Geyser Crest, Kaydeross Park, Ruggles Road ..and 50 years later…..

5. City Schools Brace for Double Sessions

In 1968, a $5M bond was defeated to build a new elementary school. 1969 had a total of 6,045 students. Today we have 6,379 students and since 1969 have added Geyser Road Elementary, Greenfield Elementary, Maple Avenue Middle School, Saratoga Springs High School which added Lake Avenue Elementary School.
