Summer Home Prep Checklist: Get Your Home Ready for the Season

As the days grow longer and the temperatures get higher, it’s the perfect time to prepare your home for a fun and stress-free summer. Whether you’re planning to entertain or simply relax, a little seasonal maintenance goes a long way. Here’s a summer home preparation checklist to keep your home in tip top shape:

Check and Service Your Air Conditioning

Make sure your AC is clean and working efficiently before the real heat arrives. Change filters and consider scheduling a professional tune-up.

Clean Windows & Screens

Wash your windows inside and out, and inspect screens for holes or damage that could let bugs in.

Inspect & Clean Ceiling Fans

Make sure your ceiling fans are dust-free and rotating counterclockwise—this helps push cool air down and improves energy efficiency during the summer.

Prep Outdoor Spaces

Leaf blow patio, clean furniture, and power-wash decks or siding. Set up your grill, outdoor lighting, and planters for full summer enjoyment.

Reduce Indoor Allergens

If anyone in your home suffers from seasonal allergies, now’s the time to take extra steps to improve indoor air quality. Use an HEPA air purifier, replace HVAC filters with high-efficiency versions, and anywhere pollen and dust can settle. Don’t forget to wipe down windowsills and keep windows closed on high-pollen days.
