Education: Saratoga
Springs offers a variety of education opportunities. The public
school system includes six elementary buildings (K-5), one
middle school (6-7), junior high (8-9), senior high (10-12),
and a BOCES facility. Two schools comprise the parochial school
system, one K-6 and one 7 - 12. The parochial schools use
public school transportation.
There are alternative schools in the Saratoga Springs including
a Waldorf school and other independent schools, as well as
many nursery schools and day care centers.
Within 30 minutes of Saratoga Springs, there are many institutions
of higher learning including a state university center and
many private colleges.

Hospitals, Nursing Homes and
Senior Centers: Saratoga Springs offers many
health care facilities including Saratoga Hospital, Four Winds
- Saratoga Psychiatric Center, Saratoga Hospital Nursing Home,
and Wesley Health Care Center. There are facilities for Seniors,
including Senior Citizens for Saratoga Springs, Embury Apartments,
Stonequist Apartments and Raymond Watkin Apartments (senior
and disabled housing).
Houses of Worship:
Saratoga Springs has two Roman Catholic churches, three
synagogues (Orthodox, Conservative, and reform), United
Methodist, Free Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian (UCC),
Lutheran, Assembly of God, Baptist, Nazarene, Seventh Day
Adventist as well as several non-denominational and inter-denominational
churches.

Recreation and Leisure:
The area abounds with lakes, rivers, ski areas, golf courses,
public and private sports facilities. Saratoga Race Course,
which dates back to 1864, is the nation’s oldest operating
thoroughbred racetrack. It offers flat track racing throughout
the month of August. There is standardbred racing at the picturesque
Saratoga Harness Track.

SPAC
The Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the summer home of
the New York City Opera, the New York City Ballet and the
Philadelphia Orchestra. It also offers special events by well
known entertainers and groups from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Saratoga Springs also offers the 2,000-acre Saratoga Spa
State Park, World Class Polo, the National Museum of Racing,
the National Museum of Dance and world-famous mineral baths.
There are active little league, softball, youth football,
lacrosse, hockey, figure skating, and soccer programs; there
are 5 city-owned playgrounds, as well as tennis courts, swimming
facilities, two indoor ice rinks, golf courses and a YMCA.
