2019 marks Roohan Realty’s 50th year in business! We would like to take you back to 1969 and share what was happening in the news – locally and nationally. We’ve been having a great time reading old newspapers and hope you enjoy seeing the historic Roohan Realty connections as much as we do. Community involvement and public service have been ingrained in our business from the very beginning – a commitment that continues today. Check back every Thursday for a fresh flashback to 1969!


1. President Eisenhower Hometown Burial

President Dwight D. Eisenhower is laid to rest in his hometown of Abilene, Kansas.


2. Sutton Back For Re-election

Sutton to run for re-election for Commissioner of Finance. (Roohan Realty’s Amy Sutton’s father-in-law).


3. SPAC Adds To Their Summer Schedule

SPAC adds Janis Joplin; Peter, Paul and Mary; and Buddy Rich to the summer schedule.
Already announced are O.C. Smith, the King Family, Fifth Dimension, Tony Bennett, the Young Americans and Petula Clark.


4. Invitations To The Chamber Of Commerce 50th Annual Dinner

Past Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce invited to the 50th Annual Dinner. Two living past presidents were preceded in the office by their fathers.
William T. Ashton served in 1959, his father Edward B. Ashton in 1920 and 1921.
James E. Benton served as president in 1952 and his father William E. Benton served in 1929.

5.  Allerdice’s 50th Annversary

If you see Sue and Wally Allerdice on April 13th, wish them a Happy 50th Anniversary!


6. Hatties Chicken Shack and Golden Grill Relocated

Two business need to be relocated due to Urban Renewal, Hatties Chicken Shack on South Federal Street and Edward Walczak’s Golden Grill. They both moved to Phila Street.
